#8 My Cousin's Sept. Wedding
She also hoped for some eucalyptus. I knew I'd be using seeded euc but hoping for another dramatic variety. One day, while sorting out flower inventory for several events, I was visiting my flower farmer friend, Dani of Dig-It Flower Farm in Duvall, WA. Walking through her rows of blooms, I saw this monstrosity of a eucalyptus plant. It was practically a tree! Asking what she was going to do with it, she shrugged her shoulders and said she had no idea. I knew immediately what I was going to use it for, my cousin's bridal bouquet! To this day, it's the best eucalyptus I've ever worked with. Perhaps I can convince her to grow more this year..... (big smiley face)!
Designing the flowers for my cousin's wedding was an honor and a definite top moment of 2016.
#7 F&B Workshops for Everyday
Honestly, I found workshops to be really stressful. It wasn't the workshop itself, as I'm a former teacher. It was filling the class. Attempting to launch in the summer, they didn't go as planned. My target audience was out enjoying the summer. How could I blame them... I was doing the same thing. Not treating this as an epic fail, I regrouped and revised my strategy. Ultimately, I had two workshops in 2016. Participation was small, but I found that to be ok. It allowed for a more personal experience, and I gathered some really great feedback.
Not to worry, more workshops are on the horizon for 2017. YES!
