In my first year, I was, not surprisingly, still defining my business. I’d made this big decision to shift from a career in marketing/full-time mom to part-time business owner/full-time mom- no doubt an adjustment at home too. So in the first part of 2015, it was all about selling our house in Issaquah and relocating to a larger house. The over two year search was taxing- no it was downright stressful. Yet it wasn’t until we laid eyes on our property in Fall City that my vision became clearer. Funny how something seemingly unrelated, like a house, would reinforce my decision that this flower business had become a part of me.
Summer was good. Several fantastic weddings, the Summer Farm Tour, blog posts, a few interviews, the amazing weather we had…it was cooking, and I was prepping for the holiday season which had been good to me the year before. And then…
It was a quiet fall that rolled into an even quieter holiday season. Business there in the past, was unresponsive. It was confusing. It was discouraging. It was a definite sad face.
Perplexed as I might have been, I pushed through and actually finished the year out with some amazing wins. Again, it’s those seemingly unrelated events that lead to greener pastures, to new open doors, to exciting opportunities in 2016. It’s all good. I think it was actually the calm…the gentle quietness that pushed me to once again commit myself to this career choice. Yes, I want this. It is within my reach.
It’s that desire to achieve a higher success, a yearning to reach goals- no it’s an absolute hunger to kick ass in the local and sustainable floral industry that is ever present. And by golly… the tables are about to turn!
It’s a definite smiley face!
It’s a whole lot of smiles!
So a couple things… I want to leave you with some awesome highlights of 2015 but hope you’ll stick around for 2016. I can’t share all the details just yet, but my evolving vision of more than 10+ years is about to become a reality. I can’t wait! I might go quiet for a while. Blogging is a full time job and some big holidays are coming up.
