This is the story of Jessica and Morgan!
The best way to describe Jessica and Morgan is…full of life. Both in fine arts as professional dancers, they traveled the world (literally!) on a major dance show called Shadowland with the Pilobolus Dance Theater for several years, where they met. Settling down in Morgan’s hometown of Seattle, they are starting a new journey, incorporating their active lifestyles as fitness instructors, personal trainers, and Co-Facilities Coordinators at Community Fitness. Morgan is also the co-founder/owner of Northwest Mason Bees. I’m crossing my fingers he’ll pick my farm for a lovely family of bees next year. (Hint! Hint!)
Both bride and groom were very active in the whole floral process. Morgan even emailed me a specific flower Jessica had seen at the farmer’s market a few weeks before, making sure I knew exactly what it was, so I could hopefully incorporate it into the bouquets. Score… I was able to! It was Croscosmia, by the way.
Jessica and Morgan were married at the legendary Alderbrook Resort, surrounded by the Olympic Mountains along the Hood Canal. I had previously stayed at Alderbrook before, so I knew it was awesome! If you ever get a chance to stay there, do it! It’s absolutely beautiful in the summer, but in my opinion it’s the perfect getaway for a cold and rainy weekend. The rooms are excellent! The spa is quant and relaxing. The restaurant was delicious, and I’m not just saying that. It really was. And even though it makes a great retreat for romantic couples, Alderbrook actually welcomes children. Alright! That’s aces in my book!
Jessica and Morgan gave me a lot of creative freedom.
Really, their only requirement was bold and bright flowers. Of course, this was magic to my ears! And they completely embraced the seasonality of flowers and let the final result be the surprise.
Jessica’s face was priceless.
She had a frenzy of primping going on around her. The cameras were flashing away. The smiles were gleaming with happiness. The anticipation was in the air. But for a very brief second, I captured the eyes of the center stage and touched her core with my work.
That was awesome! And that is why I love my job!
