On the surface, these flowers are beautiful. However, looking far deeper, they have absolute integrity. With Mother's Day fast approaching on May, 8th, I thought this would be rather appropriate to share. Here is a message I include on my flowers.
Today, I want to thank you. Though you might not realize it, you are making a difference in many people's lives. By choosing First & Bloom, you are supporting not only my mission, but also the mission of so many American flower farmers- to celebrate your life moments with gorgeous flowers responsibly grown in the U.S.A.
The day I decided to only sell American grown flowers was actually a pretty powerful moment. One fall day, I offered to donate centerpiece flowers to my son's school Thanksgiving dinner that would be distributed to all the classrooms. At the time, my kitchen was my workshop. I was busy cleaning and cutting the flowers before hydrating them in fresh clean water. As I worked, I started to notice a pasty texture beginning to cover my hands. However concerning, I continued to work and delivered the flowers. All the while I thought about recent facts I had learned regarding growing practices overseas. It really bothered me to know these flowers I had handled, taken to my son's school, and processed in my very own kitchen were potentially grown with hazardous fertilizers and chemicals banned in the U.S.
I felt horrible!
And so that was it. Within hours, I vowed to never source imported flowers again.
Since that day in November of 2014, I have not looked back. I am very proud to know in my heart you are receiving American grown flowers, using eco-friendly floral practices, with your absolute wellbeing in mind.
From this day forward, I hope you too will see flowers in a new way and choose First & Bloom.
Thank you so much,
